As your strong local voice, I am committed to holding the Government to account and fighting for Caloundra’s fair share.
I was first elected as the State Member for Caloundra in February 2004 and together with this remarkable community I have fought for our region to thrive.
Caloundra has a strong community spirit thanks to the tireless work of the local community groups. My wife Judy and I are strong supporters of Caloundra’s social and cultural scene, holding patronage on many community organisations and sponsoring numerous local events. I will continue to work closely with community groups, schools and pensioner groups to discuss key issues in the community and work with them to achieve outcomes.
As your member in State Parliament, I will assist you in any way I can. If I cannot provide the assistance you need, I will provide you direction or the name and contact details of another organisation or person who can assist.
If there is an issue you think needs addressing in Caloundra, I am happy to meet with you or any organisation of which you are a member in my office, out for a coffee or attend meetings if you believe I could be of assistance. Together with my team we are certainly here to help you.
Throughout my political career I have been proud to have taken on a number of senior positions and portfolios. I first served as a Member of Parliament for the Liberal Party of Australia, managing the portfolio of Shadow Attorney-General from 2005-2008 among many others and later taking the role of Leader of the Party. On the 26th of July 2008 an agreement was signed and together with Lawrence Springborg, Bruce McIver and Gary Spence, I helped form today’s Liberal National Party. As a member of the Liberal National Party, some of my roles included Deputy Leader of the Liberal National Party, Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Minister for Energy and Water Supply.
I am passionate about implementing effective health services throughout Queensland and during five years collectively, managed the portfolio of Shadow Minister for Health. View my CV >
Before deciding to enter Parliament, I spent two decades working in various roles within the legal industry. As a qualified solicitor and mediator, my extensive legal knowledge and skills have been paramount in understanding legislation and liaising with authorities on residents’ behalf.
