State Member for Caloundra Mark McArdle today said the LNP’s commitment, if elected at the next State Election, of putting $35m into completing the construction of Bells Creek Arterial Road so that it joins the Bruce Highway to Caloundra Road, will assist the residents of Baringa, Nirimba, Bellvista, Bells Reach and other suburbs in Aura yet to be built.
“The $35m spend will be coupled with $35m from Stockland and means the construction of Bells Creek Arterial Road will be finished up to 10 years earlier than scheduled, reducing congestion on Caloundra Road and the Bruce Highway and reducing travelling times from between 3-5mins,” Mr McArdle said.
“This means that residents in Baringa, Nirimba, Bellvista, Bells Reach and other suburbs yet to be built in Aura will not have to access Caloundra Road to get to the Bruce Highway heading south or coming home from Brisbane.
“Significantly the congestion on Caloundra Road will also be reduced. This is a win-win scenario and importantly 200 local jobs will be created.
“This is an important infrastructure for Caloundra and the Sunshine Coast, directly linking the Bruce Highway to Caloundra Road,” Mr McArdle concluded.
