My office has received many calls and emails from people seeking clarification of Queensland’s Public Heath directions surrounding COVID-19 and if they can apply for an exemption. In short – what they can and cannot do.
As this situation is constantly evolving and there are so many sources of information, it can be hard to know what applies to you, what is now out of date, and what is simply untrue.
There is now a central portal to access information about the Chief Heath Officer’s public health directions for COVID-19.
This portal can be access here: https://www.health.qld.gov.au/system-governance/legislation/cho-public-health-directions-under-expanded-public-health-act-powers
Through the portal you will find all current Queensland Health directions listed by topic and the date when they came into effect.
You can submit your enquiries online through the portal or by emailing them to email@example.com, if they relate to:
- Request for exemption from Directions
- Clarity on the Directions
- Other queries relating to Directions
In particular, you may want to read the “Non-essential business, activity and undertaking Closure Direction (No.5)” which details what has been closed and what exceptions might apply.
