An LNP Government will commit $200k to install CCTV and extra lighting in Aura

In a joint announcement held in Baringa this morning, State Member for Caloundra Mark McArdle, Shadow Minister for Police Dan Purdie and LNP Candidate for Caloundra Stuart Coward said an LNP Government would commit $200k to install CCTV and extra lighting on pedestrian walkways and in parks in Aura.

Ninderry MP and Shadow Minister for Police Dan Purdie said CCTV and lighting are important tools to help deter crime and anti-social behaviour and provide communities with an improved sense of safety and security.

“It is imperative that residents feel safe to live and move about their communities without fear, and these new safety measures will go a long way towards enhancing this,” Mr Purdie said.

“The Aura development is a rapidly growing part of the Sunshine Coast region and the LNP will invest in the infrastructure needed to build a safer community for current and future residents,” State Member for Caloundra Mark McArdle said.

“This is a safe community with many young families moving in. Now is the time to ensure that we have the provisions in place to keep this community safe and feeling secure as the population grows.”

Shane Pieschel of local community group AuraSafe said they welcomed the announcement by the LNP to invest in the safety of the Aura area.

“Aura in its early stages is a fantastic place to live, but this type of future planning would solidify that this is a great area for young families right through to retirees. It is important that we continue to grow this needed infrastructure with the support of Local and State Government,” Mr Pieschel said.

“CCTV in particular will give the public that sense of security. It can help the police build a case if there is an incident and can act as a preventive measure.”

“The LNP have listened to the needs of the Aura Community and committed the funds required to ensure this vibrant area continues to be a safe and welcoming home for so many,” said LNP candidate for Caloundra Stuart Coward.

“I want to thank Shane and the AuraSafe group for their input and dedication to the future growth of their neighbourhood.  We look forward to working with them and the greater Aura community on this project.”
